We had an Excellent guide and it proved an interesting experience for a Vietnam Veteran. I knew of the Tunnels from IR's but did not encounter a tunnel during the war.

Book Johnny's tours... Thank me later!!!

Our short trip to Hochiminh city and Mui ne was a memorable experience , all thanks to Johnny's tours !! Night 1: Pickup was arranged from the airport to our Airbnb accommodation. There was a huge delay in our baggage arrival which in turn made us come outside to the arrival pick up area pretty late. Though the driver seemed a bit impatient and had a big language barrier with us, Johnny managed to ease the situation and helped in arriving safely to our accommodation. The rest of the night was left to explore the backpacker's district by ourselves. Day 2: We had an early start for a full day Mekong Delta tour. The pickup van was very comfortable and our guide , Kang (not sure of the spelling) was pretty fluent in English and well-knowledgeable as well. He was pouring information on history and the culture of South Vietnam and war times making our long journey interesting and informative. As soon as we landed in the port, our private boat was ready to take us to the neighboring islands where we witnessed a number of interesting activities (all as mentioned in the website) : Honey tasting, coconut candy making, traditional music, horse riding and finally our epic traditional boat ride in the tributaries of the river. Fresh fruits and water was served on a timely basis. We also visited a sleeping Buddha temple. After an eventful day , we returned to our accommodation. Day 3: Our 4 hour journey to Mui ne began with the pick-up van promptly picking us up. Johnny greeted us at Phan thiet and showed us around the main Street and how to enter the beach area. He even managed to put us in a beautiful guesthouse right on the main Street but away from all the bustle so that our friends and us could be in touch easier. Bonus : He spoke to the owners of the original hotels we had booked and negotiated a free cancellation. If you are on a budget , be sure to stay here. It's a pretty place behind 'Ganesh' Indian restaurant. Rest of the day went by sipping on Saigon beers on the beach side and admiring the kite surfers. Day 4: We had a very early start for the sunrise dunes tour. As expected, we were picked up promptly by our Jeep driver and guide Sandy - a cheerful and chirpy person. At the white sand dunes, we experienced a beautiful sunrise followed by the adrenaline rushing ATV ride. Jeep ride onwards and ATV ride while returning from the desert were the best moments of our entire trip. Such a thrilling experience. After clicking some pics in the Mui ne Fishing village and one more photo spot , we headed to the red sand dunes. We met the most energetic granny, with whom Sandy got us a good deal for sand boarding, in Mui ne area. Suggesting poses and letting us try different slides, she managed to get the best out of us - disregarding the hot sun. We then headed to Fairy stream and then back to our Phan thiet guesthouse for breakfast. The rest of the day went relaxing and a wonderful hot stone massage at Johnny's family spa. Well trained masseuses and masseurs. The last night of our trip was spent in hogging great local food at Johnny's family restaurant. Beers were very less priced and the food was tasty - vegetarian and seafood for the reasonable price. Johnny joined us for dinner and we had a great chat about our countries and culture 🤗 Day 5 : Our bags were packed and we bid goodbye to Johnny and headed to the Airport. We managed to take an hour's break at Ben Thanh Market for some souvenir shopping and came back to Singapore with etched memories.
